How To Write Blog Posts

Remember, there are 2 basic approaches to writing blog posts.

One is to reveal personal information, opinions, likes and dislikes, so people get to know you and like you and identify with you.

The second is to give info about your products, how they can be used, who should own them and your opinions.

When doing either one, you want to consider SEO. Writing the blog post will naturally take care of keywords in the content. You don’t need to try and stuff keywords there. However, the blog title should be optimized for a particular keyword phrase.

I prefer using keyword phrases in the title that people might actually be searching for.

As far as the title length is concerned, the more variations of words you can use will get you found for different keyword searches.

Also, when giving info, using a list works very well and will get more people to read your blog posts.

The number can be whatever you want or can come up with. But, for this example create a list demonstrating how a woman can use different products to protect herself.

How Long Does A Blog Post Need To Be?

There’s a misconception that all blog posts need to be a certain length (and that longer = better). Studies do show that long blog posts attract more organic traffic and social shares. However, if you think about it, does everything you write about really require 1000+ words? NO! In fact, to some people, a long blog post will scare them away. As soon as they click on it and see how long it is, they bounce right off that page.

Much of the time, it’s perfectly acceptable to write 200 words on a topic, as long as you’re giving people something of value within that 200 words. Trying to stretch a blog post just to reach a certain number of words is doing a disservice to your visitors.

When writing about a product, cover the background, its key features, some nice images, pricing, etc. and you’re good to go.

It’s simply a matter of being practical.

You want to cover a product with at least some level of depth and give readers a clear idea of what they can expect if they purchased it.

So 200-500 words with a handful of pictures is a good formula to follow when you are writing about the products.

Also, don’t worry about keywords.  When you write naturally about a product, you will organically be using relevant keyword phrases. If you want to optimize for a particular keyword phrase, put it in the blog post title.

So, how long does a blog post need to be?  Long enough to give all the information your reader needs to understand the product and how it works.
